Welcome to Comma Coffee Reading Room, a hidden gem located in Vientiane, Laos, where coffee meets a curated literary journey! This charming café is not just a place to grab a cup of joe; it’s a nurturing sanctuary for bookworms, students, and professionals looking for a cozy spot to hunker down and get to work.

As you step inside, you’ll immediately be enveloped by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The gentle hum of conversation mixes with the soft aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, creating an environment that stimulates your senses and your creativity. The ample seating areas, complete with plentiful power outlets, cater perfectly to those who need to plug in and power up while savoring their favorite brews. Whether you’re cramming for exams or engaging in serious creative work, Comma Coffee Reading Room offers the perfect backdrop.

Delight in the café’s selection of meticulously crafted beverages. Locals rave about their pour-over coffees, particularly the specialty Yunnan beans. Each sip of this meticulously brewed coffee promises to be a flavorful journey, whether you prefer a vibrant and fruity profile or a rich and earthy cup. But it’s not just the coffee that has patrons coming back for more. Indulge in delightful treat options like the red velvet tart—although do be warned to keep a napkin handy, as it might leave your smile a tad crimson!

Real experiences from customers reflect the café’s enduring appeal. One visitor, Bandongzki Travels, found the atmosphere an ideal haven for reading, recommending the enchanting novel A Song of Stone as the perfect companion for your coffee. Another customer, Youngju Han, appreciated the cozy ambiance for studying but cautioned about the messiness of indulging in their pastries. Plus, if you're looking for a unique twist, HA B admires the café’s commitment to quality coffee roasting over traditional café offerings—a solid nod to the connoisseurs among us.

While the selection of books in the café may be a bit haphazard, some patrons, like Kitsada Saleumxay, found charm in the eclectic nature of their offerings, praising the tea and desserts that provide a sweet complement to the bold coffee options. And if you're a fan of surprises, like Gilbert Barrier, you might find inspirational reads from Osho while enjoying their delicious veggie dumplings.

Located just a few meters from the main road in Phonsinuan, Comma Coffee Reading Room is both accessible and a retreat, despite its limited parking. Prices start from a reasonable $2 (approximately LAK 40,000), making this spot a pocket-friendly option for anyone needing to recharge with good coffee and good reads.

In summary, Comma Coffee Reading Room is more than a café; it’s a community space that resonates with those who appreciate the simple pleasures of life—great coffee, good company, and the comfort of books. Don’t miss out on this beautiful retreat during your next visit to Vientiane!

Nice atmosphere and a cozy spot for students or professionals to work on their tasks. Plenty of power outlets by the desks make it convenient for laptop users. The coffee is tasty, but be cautious after enjoying the red velvet tart as it can leave your teeth noticeably red when you smile

I really liked the cozy atmosphere and ample seating at the café. However, the books were a bit disorganized and dusty when I visited, which made it a bit challenging to find something good to read. On the bright side, the tea and dessert I ordered were decent.

Not your usual coffee shop. They’re more coffee roasters than cafe. They take their beans seriously. A lovely place but expect crowds of people studying.

Peaceful and spacious place. We've really enjoyed the pour over with Yunnan beans (catimor anaerobic natural), the catimor from Paksong was nice too. Just be careful that the date of roasting is within a month or it doesn't feel as fresh. The veggie dumplings were very nice. Good surprise to find an Osho book. Good time there

10/10!!! This is THE place to be! I can say with confidence that this is the BEST cafe I've ever been to. It cannot be improved. It's perfect and amazing. I'm blown away. You can easily spend a whole day here. The vibe is great. I was the only foreigner here. Everybody else are locals. Lots of high school and university students doing group projects. But it is very quiet and calm. The music is at perfect volume and super relaxing pleasant ambient lounge music. There are bookshelves everywhere that have very interesting books about SE Asia and Laos in English. There are boardgames! Good one! Catan, Carcassonne, Chess, even Go! Amazing. Bonus: there's LEGO! The building and space is extremely appealing and in Lao traditional style. Beautiful inside and out. The furniture is great. There's seating arrangement for every need. Couches, armchairs, even beds! Omg. It's a dreamscape! I really love the comfort and comfiness here. Also it's all very nicely spaced out. They even have whiteboards. Group work, solo work. Anything you can imagine. They really thought this thru to a T. The assortment of cakes is great. Very yummy and affordable reasonably priced cakes. The beverages are all in the range of 45000 to 55000 kip. They specialise in coffee and actually their coffee is Lao grown! Wow! It doesn't get better than this! You're really supporting a good cause by coming here. There's free parking on the property, but for motorbikes only. Cars can park on the road though. The location is quite tucked away. You wouldn't expect to find such a cafe here. They also have lockers! The only thing I don't like is that there are a few mosquitos. Perhaps this could be addressed in the future. In the meantime, bring mosquito repellant. Nice AC also btw. Staff is also friendly!

I love this cafe, it is ideal for remote working, for study and for enjoying an excellent Lao Coffee. The personnel are kind and ready to help. Inside the café books are everywhere, the majority are in English but it is possible to find Chinese, Japanese, Lao, Thai, Korean and French books, there are board games as well. It is possible to find a rich selection of Lao coffee produced by small farmers in forests between 1200 mts and 1400 mts in several regions in the country. The environment is young and dynamic with young students as main customers, there is some music in the background but the volume isn't loud and helps concentration. It's not in the tourist area of the city but if you need a quiet place where to do some job, or read a book it's one of the best places in the city. Unfortunately I couldn't try the cuisine because the day I visited comma coffee it was not available. This is another reason because I should go back there!
